Fired

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Friday afternoon, I received an email from my husband that said:
“I got fired today. I’m at home working on that.”
Yes, that was the sum total of the email, no explanation.
It was a really fun afternoon at work, knowing my husband just got fired, that we have little savings, and the kids’ birthdays and Christmas [...]

Friday night I met friends (Katrina, MarySue, and Laura) at Eamon Patricks. After MarySue and Katrina commiserated with Laura on the loss of her dear Grandma I told the following story:
“Today I bought a soda at Phils (local grocery store) and it was flat. I took it back to the store to exchange [...]

“1985″
Woohoohoo
Woohoohoo
Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husband’s a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four
Only been with one man
What happen to her plan?
She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ass
On the hood of white snake’s car
Her yellow SUV is [...]

Bra shopping seems to be quite the topic of interest lately….
Tay and his friend J. were quite hyper yesterday. I, of
course, decided it would be an excellent time for a two hour back to school shopping spree.
I packed up the kids and the lists and headed to the Peoria Target. After perusing the [...]

Looking at a gondola (sub sandwich), E. says “I don’t like that stuff.”
Me: “what stuff?”
E: (pointing) “that stuff”
Me: the lettuce?
E: “yes, that stuff”
Hmmmm…. is it just me, or would you reasonably expect a 14 year-old boy, whose mom happens to be a VEGETARIAN to be able to identify lettuce?

Duh.

Yesterday B. was watching Taylor make a stick figure cartoon on the computer; the program is a cross between an old fashioned “flip book” and the paint program on windows. The stick guys fight, carrying huge weapons (scimitars, scythes, etc) and both boys find it immensely amusing. It’s sort of like [...]

Me: What’s this ‘Degrassi’ show about?
B: Oh, there’s this guy and he likes this girl but then he likes this other girl, it’s like one of those love triangles.
Me: Oh, so it’s a story about love?
B: No, it’s a story about makin’ love.

This has not been enhanced for comedic effect (or is it affect?)

My yesterday:
1. After picking up a friend in the country, Taylor and said Friend made a kite out of tissue paper and dental floss. And flew it out the back window of my car.
2. Upon arriving home they T.P.’d our garage. I caught them, ordered them to clean it up.
3. Went out [...]

We have been on a kick of making home made ice cream. My daughter’s favorite kind is chocolate peanut butter.
The other night she made a batch and distributed some to her brother and his friend, B.
B: “I don’t know if I like this.”
Me: “It’s just chocolate peanut butter ice cream.”
B: “Well, I’ve never [...]

On arriving home from the pool Saturday Reagan said “A. is taking advantage of ‘Sam;’ he has liked her all year but she doesn’t like him. But she didn’t have any money at the pool and he went home and got $5 for her.” I was almost speechless. I found it [...]
